Hè Lùxuān and Wú Mào, originally from Neijiang in Sichuan, share the historical narratives of their respective families through a video installation. Their memories begin with the eldest family members and extend up to their parents, retracing a history spanning a century. These two families endured, together, the fall of the Qing dynasty, the Republic of China, the Anti-Japanese War, the founding of the New China, the Korean War, the Cultural Revolution, and the period of reform and opening-up. During these tumultuous years, they were shaken by the vicissitudes of fate and forced into exile. After experiencing the dispersion of their members and several political movements, they left Neijiang to settle in Xinjiang and Shenzhen, and later, within the context of reform and opening-up, reconciled with life, ultimately recounting these events with remarkable serenity.
